‘Legally Blonde’ TV series spin-off now on Amazon

Amazon is teaming up with Reese Witherspoon and her production company Hello Sunshine to develop a Legally Blonde TV drama.

The show will be a spin-off of the original film, but plot details are currently being kept under wraps. The series will be produced by Marc Platt, Amazon MGM Studios, Lauren Neustadt, Witherspoon and Stephanie Savage under the Fake Empire label.

However, it’s unclear whether Witherspoon will reprise her role as Elle Woods in the upcoming TV show.

Since acquiring MGM Studios a few years ago, Amazon has been on the lookout for movies that could reinvigorate MGM’s film catalog. The plan for the streamer and “Hello Sunshine” is to expand the “Legally Blonde” film franchise by producing multiple series, with plans for a second spin-off already in the works.

In 2019, Reese Witherspoon expressed interest in bringing back her iconic character Elle from the film Legally Blonde and discusses what it would be like to see her in her 40s.

She mentioned that she wanted to explore the concept of aging, contemporary thought, and how things have evolved. Now, Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are reportedly working with Witherspoon and her production company Hello Sunshine to bring the beloved character back.

Schwartz and Savage previously worked on “Dynasty” and “Nancy Drew” updates for The CW, as well as Apple’s “City on Fire.”Witherspoon has previously collaborated with Amazon on TV adaptations Daisy Jones and the Six.
