London, United Kingdom (UK)

Late last year, Nothing was rumored to be launching an “affordable” phone called the Nothing Phone 2a. Ultimately there was no evidence confirming the device’s existence, but it failed to provide any key details. Since the initial leak, a slew of images have flooded the internet, offering hints about what the device might look like. Now, renders leaked by OnLeaks and SmartPrix purportedly showcasing an “improved” rear panel have emerged.

Leaked renders show off the back panel of the Phone 2a, showing off a complete redesign — skipping the Glyph Lightning interface that the Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2 are known for. This could be a huge potential change, and unlike anything else we’ve seen so far.

Overall, the design is reminiscent of previous models, with a dual-camera setup tucked away in the top left corner. This is different from some of the other leaks we’ve seen so far, which have shown center-aligned camera modules. Additionally, it’s unclear from the images whether the Phone 2a will feature a translucent panel made of glass or another material, but it does have the classic see-through industrial look that Nothing is known for. Notably, there’s no visible wireless charging coil either.

It should be noted that this is likely a pre-production unit and the design has not yet been finalized. Therefore, it should be taken with a grain of salt. Additionally, Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis posted the same content on X. He posted “…” Now, what does that mean? Only time will tell.

Nothing Phone 2a expected specifications

Reports suggest that the Nothing Phone 2a will feature a dual-camera setup that will include a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KGN9 sensor with a sensor size of 1/1.5-inch and a pixel size of 1.0 micron. The secondary ultra-wide-angle lens, on the other hand, could be a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KJN1 ultra-wide-angle unit with a 1/2.76-inch sensor size.

In addition, it is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chip and equipped with an OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
