Leaked Pixel Fold 2 renderings hint at triple rear camera layout

Renderings of the Google Pixel Fold 2, the purported successor to the first-generation Pixel Fold, have been leaked by a tipster, showing off the foldable phone from every angle. The images suggest that the Pixel Fold 2 is unlikely to come with a horizontal camera visor, unlike the company’s recent Pixel-branded smartphones. In addition to the new camera island design, the dimensions of the foldable phone’s internal and external displays can also be seen in the leaked images of the phone.

Tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) leaked CAD-based renderings of Pixel Fold 2 cooperate With Smartprix. The images showcase the internal and external design of the foldable smartphone in Carbon Black (dark gray) color scheme, along with the placement of several components such as the camera module, buttons, and USB ports.

The most notable change to the second-generation Pixel Fold is the new camera island, which replaces the visor design found on the company’s latest smartphone models, including the Pixel 8 and Pixel 7 series. The camera module comes with three cameras and an LED flash.

The Pixel Fold 2 will feature a 6.4-inch outer screen with rounded corners and a center-aligned punch-hole cutout at the top of the screen for the selfie camera. When unfolded, the internal display of the phone is 7.9 inches. The rendering shows a camera sensor in the upper right corner of the inner screen, which is said to house an under-screen camera.

The leaked renders also show other smaller elements, including buttons on the foldable phone. When expanded, the power and volume buttons are both located on the right side of the screen. According to the publication, the top edge contains only the speaker grille and antenna strip, while the bottom edge houses the USB Type-C port, another speaker grille, SIM card slot, and microphone.

While these are the first leaked renders to give us a detailed look at what the famous leaker claims is the Pixel Fold 2, it’s worth taking these images with a grain of salt as Google has yet to announce plans for a second-generation foldable phone. Previous leaks suggested the phone would run Android 14 and be powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chip. Google released the first Pixel Fold in June 2023, so we expect to hear more details about its alleged successor in the coming months.
