Aamir Khan and his ex-wife, filmmaker Kiran Rao are currently busy promoting their upcoming directorial missing ladies, The comedy-drama, which will release in theaters on March 1, is jointly produced by Aamir and Kiran. Ahead of the release of her film, Kiran candidly revealed how “Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist” was tempted to act in the film. Conversation with the filmmaker bollywood bubble, revealed that Aamir Khan wanted to play Ravi Kishan’s character of Inspector Manohar. Kiran said, “He (Aamir Khan) wanted to play Ravi Kishan’s character Inspector. And you know that would have been great. Honestly, it would have made a huge difference to the box office and everything else. So in many ways I keep getting asked, ‘You did not take Aamir Khan?, [You didn’t cast Aamir Khan], So it is true.”

Kiran Rao also shared the reason behind not choosing Aamir Khan for the role. He said, “To be honest, it was a bit of a dilemma, because you know he is a great actor. He’s a superstar, so he’ll bomb the seats, as they say. I just felt like you know him being a big superstar might have changed your perception or expectation of the rules. In fact, the beauty of the character is his unpredictability, you don’t know what he’s going to do next. And somewhere subconsciously with Aamir, the kind of star he is, I might have felt some pressure on the character. Apart from this, Ravi Kishan is absolutely fit. He is very good with his words. He knows those people. He is very real in that area.”

When asked if she and Aamir Khan took the responsibility of bringing out stories that no one else would want to tell, Kiran Rao said, “I think it is important for Aamir because he is the one who ultimately takes the decision. Let’s take what AKP (Aamir Khan Productions) makes. I think the story chooses him and not he chooses the story. I think Aamir understands stories and humans very well. And you can tell when a story has that magic like you know it will make it to the cinema. I believe that playing certain characters is what excites him. During this time everyone told him riot, ‘You’re going to be an overweight uncle. Do you know what you’re doing?’ But it was such a great character for him that he couldn’t resist it. And I think the stories are such that they become irresistible. still, Above the ground Not many people would have made it. But the story was unique.”

Talking about how she uses Aamir Khan’s star power to promote her films, Kiran Rao confessed, “I use him to the fullest. I Vasulo His star power, wherever I can. I say, ‘You are here, please stand and give us three pictures.’ Yes, we have a little movie. I really need to do everything I can to tell people ‘Brother is leading the first march. See, Aamir Khan has made it. This is his film. Come let’s see. [This film is made by Aamir Khan. It is hitting the theatres on March 1. It is his film. Please come and watch it], So you know, I use it shamelessly.

Speaking about Aamir Khan’s input as a producer, Kiran Rao candidly said, “He is very spontaneous when he gives you a project. He tries to let you do your thing because he really involves the director in the project in a lot of ways. He has to be sure that this director gets the story and makes the kind of honest film he wants. At the end of the day it is his name that he would like to create. So once he does that he doesn’t interfere at all. When he comes to the scripting stage he likes to make sure that the script is what he thinks is good and then he comes in when we are editing. And he often comes when casting is happening because casting is a huge part of your film. This is the face of your film. So he comes to these three points but Aamir—the director—will come in only at the editing stage and suggest that maybe we could do that. But otherwise, no interference.”

Kiran Rao concluded by saying that she would love to cast Aamir Khan in the sequel of her 2010 film Dhobi Ghat. “I would love to make a sequel,” she said. Dhobi GhatLike Dhobi Ghat 2 because he was so amazing Dhobi Ghat, I feel like he conveys so much with his eyes and he does so much without doing much that I feel like it’s somehow understated in my film. I would love to do this again. I don’t think he gets enough roles. I found that very romantic.”
