Tonk, Rajasthan:

Congress leader Sachin Pilot expressed confidence in the candidates announced by the party for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and said those who had a good chance of winning have been given the chance.

After the announcement of 10 Congress candidates for the second round in Rajasthan, Sachin Pilot said that after careful study by the All-India Congress Committee, winning candidates have been fielded from the state.

Mr. Pilot highlighted the Congress party’s optimism about the upcoming elections and cited the examples of sitting Lok Sabha MPs from Haryana and Rajasthan leaving the BJP to join the Congress. He mentioned that the main competition, especially in northern India, will be between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“A sitting Lok Sabha MP in Haryana has left the BJP and joined the Congress. In Rajasthan, a sitting Lok Sabha MP has also left the BJP and joined the Congress. So, the sitting MLA has left the BJP and joined the Congress. MPs and MPs are coming to us. Former legislators are going to the BJP. People should understand this. People who accept the ideology of the Congress and express trust in our leadership are being welcomed and given opportunities. I am happy that the party has People’s performance and commitment to the party gives them a chance. I have visited many states and a good atmosphere is taking shape in the Indian bloc.”

On the issue of Rajasthan MP Rahul Kaswan jumping ship to join the Congress ahead of the elections, Mr. Pilot said that considering the long history and ideology of the BJP, the sitting BJP MP Joining the party is a good thing.

Criticizing the BJP, Mr Pilot said, “The BJP talks about crossing 300 or 400 seats. But if they are so confident, why do they need to get opposition members to join their party and contest elections?” he said, They say one thing but their actions suggest otherwise, “If they are so confident then why do they need to have our former ministers, former MPs and MLAs join their party?”

When asked about former chief minister Ashok Gehlot’s son getting a ticket from Jalore-Sirohi despite losing in the 2019 Jodhpur elections, Mr Pilot said: “In politics, defeats and victories continue. Regardless. What happens in the distribution of votes is under the central leadership of the Congress. The party looks at the regions and also takes into account the needs of the public. No matter who is competing from where, it will be a contest of strength. The whole party will unite and fight together.”
