Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 25 (IANS) The Kerala government has outlined an ambitious roadmap for the state’s tourism sector under “Vision 2031”, Finance Minister KN Balagopal said on Saturday, highlighting the immense potential in specific tourism sectors.
Speaking at the state-level workshop at Marion College, Kuttikkanam, the minister said the government is implementing projects aimed at taking a big leap in tourism.
“Tourism gets high priority in the state budget,” Balagopal said, emphasizing opportunities in heli-tourism, health tourism, beach tourism, MICE tourism, destination weddings, cruise tourism and pilgrimage tourism.
He said Kerala can offer experiences at par with global destinations, while air quality and the local environment remain a major advantage.

“Kerala has outperformed the national average in attracting international tourists. Munnar in particular has received record numbers of domestic and foreign tourists,” he said.
