Kerala High Court directs censorship committee to decide on change of title of Gratitude

Malayalam actor Dileep’s upcoming film Grateful has been mired in controversy ever since its trailer was launched. According to reports, a petition has been filed with the Kerala High Court to change the film’s title and they have directed the censor board to take up the matter.

Earlier, “Dileep” star Sakamani was dragged to court by a local claiming that a fabricated scene was shown in the trailer. Now, as per the latest news, another petition has been filed in the Kerala High Court seeking to change the title of the film. In this regard, the high court has asked the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to take a final decision on the case. The court said the censor board has all the powers to take an appropriate decision after watching the film.

VR Viju, a resident of Thankyamani village in Idukki district of Kerala, filed a case in the High Court alleging that the trailer contains fabricated scenes. The film is inspired by real events. According to the plea, there were no official documents or any other records of the rapes shown in the trailer and were mostly fabricated.

“Grateful Heart” is directed by Ratheesh Reghunandan and stars Dileep. The cast of the film also includes Neeta Pillai, Pranitha Subhash, Sudev Nair, Ajmal Ameer, Shine Tom Chacko, Siddique, Malavika Menon, Manoj K Jayan, Major Ravi and others. The film is produced by RB Choudary and Raaffi Mathirra under the banner of Super Good Films. The music in the film is composed by William Francis, the cinematographer is Manoj Pillai, and the editing is done by Shyam Sasidharan. The film’s official trailer was released on Cena Music’s YouTube channel on December 1, 2023. The producers are yet to announce an official release date for the film.

The lead role of Thankamani Dileep was last seen in the 2023 film Bandra.
