Kerala couple ends life after daughter eloped with lover

A couple committed suicide in southern Kerala district, allegedly due to depression after their college-going daughter eloped with her lover.

The deceased were identified as Unnikrishna Pillai and his wife Bindhu, who belonged to Pavumba.

Police quoted some of their relatives as saying that the couple was mentally depressed over their relationship with their daughter and that she eloped without considering their request to give up their daughter.

They overdosed on some drugs on Saturday night. Police added that while Bindu died last night, Pillai’s death was confirmed in the early hours of Sunday.
