Katie Price said she missed her second court hearing to be declared bankrupt because she was “dealing with something serious”.

The former glamor model and TV personality owes nearly £762,000 to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), which filed for bankruptcy last October.

The judge said the debt arose from her tax self-assessments for 2020-2021 and 2021-22 and included income tax, VAT, surcharges and interest.

Price, 45, failed to appear in the Bankruptcy and Companies Court on Monday.

The London hearing was told she did respond to HMRC about the debt and that she Declared bankrupt by a judge.

Ms PriceShe, who previously declared bankruptcy in 2019, said she only learned of Monday’s ruling while recording a podcast.

Price was told there was breaking news about her when she appeared in the Daily Mail’s Direct Comment! exhibit.

She replied: “Really? Oh, go away… I’m sitting here, are you serious? What have I done now?”

She also told the pre-recorded version: “I know I went to court, I think it was last week or the week before. I’ve actually been written off because of what’s going on in my life because… I deal with serious things.

“There are all kinds of bankruptcies and I think they just use the word ‘bankruptcy.’ No one really knows the ins and outs of it all.

“Trust me, I don’t get away with it either. Like, you can’t, like taxes, you can never get away with it, you have to pay. Don’t think I sit around and don’t pay for stuff, because that’s what I do.”
