Haveri (Karnataka), Oct 23 (IANS) In a tragic incident during a bull taming competition organized on the occasion of Diwali festival, multiple accidents were reported from Karnataka’s Haveri district, resulting in the death of three people.
Several other people were also seriously injured after a bull entered a house in Malluru village of Byadagi taluk of Haveri district. Those killed have been identified as Chandrashekhar Kodihalli, 75, Gani Saab, 75, and Bharat Hingameri, 24. Two of them died on Wednesday and another youth died on Thursday.
Bharat Hingameri, a youth from Tilavalli village of Hanagal taluk of Haveri district, died after receiving serious injuries when he had gone to watch the bull festival.
Eyewitnesses said that a bull suddenly moved towards the crowd and attacked Bharat on his chest. He was shifted to Haveri District Hospital and died on Thursday night.
Chandrashekhar Kodihalli, a retired government employee, was attacked by a bull from behind while returning home near Baroda Bank near Siddappa Circle in Daneshwari Nagar, Haveri. The bull suddenly charged at him and threw him on the ground. He suffered serious head injury. Later, he was taken to the hospital but he died.
Another victim, Ghani Saab, who was sitting in front of his house, was attacked by a dressed up bull, which had entered his compound during a bull taming competition. Ghani Saab was injured on his neck and chest. The incident occurred in Devihosur village.
Haveri Rural Police has registered a case in this regard and is investigating the matter.
In another incident, a bull suddenly rammed into a house during a bull-taming festival at Malluru village in Byadagi taluk of Haveri district, seriously injuring several people. As soon as the bull was released into the arena, it suddenly entered a nearby house. Luckily, residents saw this and came out in time, thereby averting a major tragedy.
The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Byadagi police station.
