'Karma': Pranab Mukherjee's daughter on Arvind Kejriwal arrest

New Delhi:

Sharmistha Mukherjee, daughter of former President Pranab Mukherjee, after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested in Delhi consumer policy case ) on Friday accused Kejriwal and the Anna Hazare clique of “making irresponsible and baseless accusations against the then Delhi Chief Minister and Congress leader Sheila”.

She added that while they claimed to have “substantial” evidence against Dikshit, no such evidence had yet been made available to the public.

She ended her post with “Karma catches up! ” suggesting that those who made the baseless accusations are now facing the consequences of their actions.

“He and the Anna Hazare gang have made the most irresponsible, baseless and crazy allegations against the Congress, including Sheila Dikshit ji saying he has a ‘box full’ of stuff against her Evidence. So far, no one has seen the ‘box’. Karma has caught up!” she said in a post on X.

Earlier, Shamista Mukherjee said she had been “allegedly viciously attacked by Congress supporters on social media” for her recent criticism of the party and its leadership.

“Since the book on my father came out, I have learned a lot from his diaries and some observations about Rahul Gandhi, where he (Pranab) said that he (Rahul) was not mature politically, He does not seem to take his frequent absences seriously. There is a lot of praise for the Congress but it has all been ignored and the Congress social media and some Congress leaders have also been expressing their disapproval… Congress social media has been viciously attacking me,” Mukherjee told ANI.

Expressing concern over the state of affairs in the Congress, Mukherjee said she was worried about the party. “A few days ago, I made a statement in an interview on the sidelines of the Jaipur Literature Festival, where I was asked about my views on the party. “Congress. I made it clear that I am a member of Congress and that Congress still plays an important role in national politics. But the Congress’s gaze should not be limited to the leadership of the Gandhi-Nehru family,” she added.

Shamista Mukherjee said the Congress should consider who will be its spokesperson as the party suffered heavy defeats in the last two Lok Sabha elections when Rahul Gandhi was its spokesperson.

A team from the Enforcement Directorate reached Kejriwal’s residence on Thursday to question him in connection with the liquor policy case. Kejriwal was arrested in dramatic circumstances during a search operation at his residence as the AAP convener failed to get interim protection from arrest from the Delhi High Court in the liquor policy case. The Enforcement Directorate then took him to the agency’s headquarters. A medical team also arrived at the emergency room.

After Kejriwal’s arrest, AAP workers and leaders rallied behind him, while India Group leaders also expressed support for the AAP leader. The BJP leader expressed support for the Chief Executive’s action against the Delhi Chief Minister, stressing that “truth must prevail”.

Responding to the arrest of two opposition chief ministers and the freezing of Congress bank accounts, Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Atish on Thursday asked the Bharatiya Janata Party to stop politicking behind the Enforcement Directorate.

She accused the BJP of trying to win elections through undemocratic means and urged them to engage in fair political competition and not use the Election Commission as a tool or weapon for their political agenda.
“Today, the BJP is murdering democracy. They have arrested two opposition chief ministers (one of them Jharkhand Chief Minister CM Hemant Soren was thrown in jail and now the other Chief Minister Kejriwal) and frozen A party’s bank account. Is this how the BJP wants to win elections?” “I want to tell the BJP that if you want to fight, come forward and fight in the political arena, in the electoral arena. Stop hiding. Play politics behind the Chief Executive’s back and stop using the Chief Executive as your weapon,” she said.
