Karan Johar recently announced a new series titled Love Storiyaan. The filmmaker revealed on his Instagram that he has put together a series of real-life love stories for the special occasion of Valentine’s Day, just like the Modern Love series. Conceived by Somen Mishra, the six-part series is a tender revisiting of a real-life love story. The series focuses on six real-life couples from across the country and their stories of love, hope, happiness and overcoming adversity. Now it’s revealed that the show’s sixth episode has been banned in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Indonesia and Egypt.

The sixth episode of the Karan Johar-backed series Love Storiyaan titled “Love Beyond Labels” has been banned in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Indonesia and Egypt. The episode features Tista and Deepan, a transgender couple from Kolkata, and tells the story of their love story that begins during their gender reassignment surgery. According to reports, the ban in the Middle Eastern country can be attributed to the “limited or highly restrictive rights” of LGBTQAI+ individuals.

About the show, Karan Johar, Producer, Dharmatic Entertainment said, “Love Storiyaan, to us, is more than just a faithful retelling of a real-life love story. The series explores Love, in all its forms, paints a beautiful picture of connection that transcends the ordinary.”

The stories are captured through the lenses of six directors: Akshay Indikar, Archana Phadke, Collin D’Cunha, Hardik Mehta, Shazia Iqbal and Vivek Soni. Produced by Daffa Entertainment with Karan Johar,

Love Storiyaan is executive produced by Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra and is inspired by the true story of the India Love Project, which was A social media community founded by former journalists Priya Ramani, Samar Halarnkar and Niloufer Venkatraman. The series will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
