Actor-turned-politician Kanagan Ranaut, the BJP candidate from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, today refuted reports that she had eaten beef, referring to the Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar for her remarks.
Kangana Ranaut’s response comes days after Maharashtra Assembly Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar claimed that the actor had earlier said She took beef but still the BJP gave her a vote.
“I do not eat beef or any other kind of red meat and it is shameful that baseless rumors are being spread about me. I have been advocating and promoting the yoga and Ayurveda lifestyle for decades but now this Strategies don’t work for me.” Tarnish my image. BJP leader Shaina NC also slammed Vijay Wadettiwar, calling the party “anti-women”. “This is not the first time the Congress party has made such ridiculous statements. Supriya Shrinate once said ‘mandi me kyarate hai’, Randeep Surjewala also spoke about the qualities of Hema Malini even though she is as old as Sonia Gandhi… This Congress party is clearly anti-women,” she said.
The latest controversy comes days after Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate sparked a massive row over her derogatory remarks about Ms Ranaut.
The “Queen” actor responded to Ms. Shrinath’s remarks on social media, noting that she has played different female characters, “from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalevi”.
“We must free our daughters from the shackles of prejudice, we must move beyond curiosity about their body parts, and most importantly, we must avoid viewing the challenging lives or circumstances of sex workers as some form of abuse or denigration… …Every woman deserves to be treated with respect for her dignity,” she said
Ms Shrinate later posted a video to clarify and said she had deleted “inappropriate posts” that had been posted on her account without her knowledge.
