Patna, Oct 23 (IANS) Amid the ongoing assembly elections in Bihar, BJP national president JP Nadda on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and its chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and accused them of turning Bihar into “jungle raj” during their rule.
Addressing an election rally at Haspura Badi Field in Goh assembly constituency in Aurangabad district, Nadda questioned the RJD’s decision to field Osama Shahab, son of late Siwan stalwart Mohammad Shahabuddin.
Nadda said, “There was a time when Shahabuddin had beaten a Superintendent of Police in broad daylight and now Lalu is giving ticket to his son. This clearly shows that he wants to bring back Jungle Raj in Bihar.”
Recalling his memories of living in Patna for more than two decades, Nadda said he had personally witnessed the chaos under the RJD rule.
He said, “I witnessed a time when an IAS officer’s wife was tortured and a district magistrate was publicly murdered. Kidnapping, robbery and attacks on the dignity of women were common occurrences. Doctors, engineers and businessmen were forced to flee.”
Taking a dig at Tejashwi Yadav, the BJP president said that RJD leaders now talk about migration, but they should first remember the era when their parents’ rule had forced people to flee the state.
“During the Lalu-Rabri regime, people were afraid to step out after 3 pm. If Bihar does not want to go back to that era, it should stand firmly with the NDA.”
Nadda was on a one-day visit to Bihar, during which he also addressed a rally in Patepur assembly constituency of Vaishali district before returning to Patna.
His comments came on the day the Grand Alliance officially declared Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate for the Bihar Assembly elections 2025.
Earlier, Tejashwi Yadav had claimed that “if anyone commits a crime, I will take action in my government.”
