Jon Bon Jovi updates friendship with Richie Sambora

Jon Bon Jovi and bandmate Richie Sambora had no bad blood at first.

During a Q&A at a screening of the band’s documentary, Thank you Good Night: The Bon Jovi Story, The Bon Jovi frontman, 62, clarified his friendship with Sambora, 64, in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Sambora was the band’s lead guitarist and left suddenly in 2013, midway through their world tour.

Jon was asked if he would perform with Sambora again, and he said that while Sambora “didn’t show up” for many shows, their friendship never ended.

“There was never a fight,” Jon said. “He had substance abuse, he had anxiety, he was a single parent, he was going through a lot of personal issues. But to this day, none of us, me, him or David, have ever done that. [Bryan] or tico [Torres], always fighting. “

The rocker noted that Sambora has “some issues that he can’t solve” and that he has to “be at home more and less on the road.” However, he added that people have to “go to work.”

“So, no animosity,” Jon continued. “An integral part of the story in three of my four chapters is my right-hand man, who was invited to join my band and whom I was lucky enough to meet. But life goes on.”

Jon also said that his exit was “unfortunate” for the band and “the world,” but that he was “not angry about it.”
