England pacer Jofra Archer represented Karnataka in the two-day training match against Sussex County at the KSCA Stadium in Alur, near Bengaluru. Archer is a player for the Sussex County cricket team and plays as a substitute in the Karnataka team (consisting of U-19, U-23 and senior players). For those unfamiliar, Sussex are participating in a 10-day pre-season training camp in Bangalore, India. They are expected to play a few practice matches in Bangalore before returning to the south coast.
Archer did not bowl on the first day of the match as Sussex opted to bowl in practice. However, he came as a substitute for Karnataka and took two wickets.
Archer, who has not played competitive cricket for almost 12 months, looked in fine rhythm as he dismissed two Sussex team-mates, one of whom was an absolute standout.

Archer last played competitive cricket during the Indian Premier League (IPL). After missing the 2022 season, he played just five games last season and picked up two wickets.
He was released by five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians before the auction. In IPL 2023, fans expected Archer to be at his best and lead MI to their sixth trophy, but recurring elbow injuries interrupted his season and affected his performance.
Archer was also ruled out of the Ashes series due to a medical condition as scans revealed a recurrence of stress fracture in his right elbow, which cut short his appearance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) with Mumbai Indians time.
