JK Truck hits family of four in Udhampur

A couple and their two daughters were killed and another injured when their car was hit by a truck in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district early on Sunday, officials said. A family from Jammu was on their way to Kashmir.

The accident occurred at Salol near Tikri along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway shortly after midnight, officials said. They said a recklessly driven truck hit the private car, which then collided with another truck, killing Nitin Dogra (37), his wife Rittu (32) ) and daughters Khushi (17) and Vani (11) died on the spot. Another daughter Brinda (15) was seriously injured.

A case has been registered and a manhunt has been launched to nab the driver who fled the spot after the accident, officials said. Meanwhile, an unidentified truck driver who was loading cattle animals fell to his death from a bridge near Manwal in Jhajjar Kotli area of ​​Jammu around 5 am, officials said.

A dozen cows also died in the accident, they said, adding that the truck, which was traveling from Chandela to Manwar, fell off the bridge near Sonu village.
