J&K Govt orders to include children aged 6 or more in public distribution system

The Government of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday ordered to include children aged 6 years or older and left the beneficiaries in the public distribution system in the central region.

According to an order, a copy, a copy of which lies with a news agency- Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said that children over 6 years and above or children above 6 years of age should be included in their respective Aay, PHH, NPHH or exclusion family ration cards.

It has also been stated that any leftist qualified beneficiary should be included under the public distribution system, if not yet covered according to the criteria.

“Wherever in any case of widow or divorce, the department is not covered under PDS, the department is informed, such beneficiaries will be provided a separate ration card in PHH, NPH or exclusion group, as the case may be, based on financial condition, and conform to NFSA rules, so to provide them coverage under PDS,”
