J&K: GMC Rajouri, organize a professional development program for NHM Healthcare Staff

Rajouri, August 22: Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri, National Health Mission (NHM), Jammu and Kashmir, organized a one -day business development program (PDM) for medical staff in the lecture hall of Mehra Campus.

The program was specifically designed for health professionals in the Pir Panjal region, which covers the twin districts of Rajouri and Ponch, and was aimed at enhancing medical professionals’ skills, knowledge and preparations to strengthen the healthcare distribution systems in this challenging area, which is prone to natural charity.

The event was organized as part of the delivery of the Department of Health and Medical Education and reflects the continuous commitment of GMC Rajouri and NHM J&K to promote continuous commercial development and strengthen primary health services.

The program was explained by Mission Director, NHM J&K, Besar ul Haq Chaudhary. In his address, he emphasized the role of professional capacity building in improving health related results and appreciated the efforts of health professionals working in the PIR Panjal region under difficult conditions.

Highlighting the Ayushman Bharat-Hold and Wellness Center (HWC) initiative, he said that primary healthcare is being converted to non-communicable diseases (NCDs), maternal and child health, juvenile health, mental health, admiration and services for emergency services under the scheme. He said that the goal is not only to treat diseases, but also to keep communities healthy, strong, and prepared for better health crisis, especially in geographically challenging places such as Rajouri and Ponch.

He talked about the important role of medical colleges in strengthening rural health coverage. He said, “GMC, including GMC Rajouri, is not only institutions of medical education, but also becoming centers of healthcare support for the field, offering special care, capacity building for frontline workers, research-making solutions and training programs,” he said.

In his address, Executive Director Shri Mata Vaisno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence, Kakyal, Dr. Yashpal Sharma called the JK Sehat app a revolutionary step in making healthcare accessible, transparent and patient. “In regions such as Jammu and Kashmir, where mountainous territories and border areas often limit physical access to health facilities, the Sehat app ensures that healthcare reaches people, rather than reaching healthcare,” he said.

Participants were oriented on important areas for effective healthcare distribution, including the JK Sehat app – to ensure health coverage and access; Disaster management and experience sharing; The role of the Indian Army in Human Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR); Implementation of comprehensive primary health care under NHM; Orientation on NHM programs in J&K; Violence against healthcare professionals and preventive measures.
