American actor jeremy alan white Has described hand-painted “lightweight” contact lenses for his illustration Bruce Springsteen In a new biographical film.
In Springsteen: Deliver Me Out of NowhereWhich follows the musician as he created his seminal country-folk album Nebraska, White, who has blue eyes, wore brown contact lenses for close-up shots of Bruce’s eyes.
“They had someone hand-paint the contacts so that I would have all the little lines and details of the eyes, and then I had to put a little weight in the contacts to keep them stable, because normally, with clear contacts, they’re always moving around,” White, 34, tells the Table Manners podcast.
“It was a weird thing. There was this guy who was in charge of giving me eye drops every 20 minutes, and he was a lovely guy, just doing his job, but I remember this Pavlovian reaction to him.
“Just because I’d be in the middle of something, and she’d have to come get the eye drops!”
He continued: “I remember trying them on… My eldest daughter, Ezer, has my blue eyes and my youngest daughter has brown eyes, like her mother. But Ezer was heartbroken.
“They came over to the house so I could try them (contacts), and she thought we’d lost the thing we share, you know, our eyes.”
Springsteen, whose album Nebraska preceded 1984’s Born in the USA and followed his 1975 breakthrough record Born to Run, watched some of White’s performances while on set.
White said: “He’s been very lovely and supportive throughout the process. I think especially in the beginning, I was being asked questions about Bruce’s childhood and things like that.

“And, you know, I have my own understanding and what I’ve learned and talking to him and reading what I’ve read, but at the end of the day, the guy is here and it’s not really my place to talk.
“My job was to try to explain as much as I could, but I don’t get to have the final say in any of this stuff. You know, Bruce is here.”
