On April 16, a Facebook user shared a photo of Jashodaben holding a placard that read “The first ‘guarantee’ she gave… was to me!” The rest of you are wise!

After the investigation began, The Desk viewed the viral photo via Google Lens and discovered multiple Instagram posts containing the same photo and similar claims.

The Desk further conducted a customized keyword search on Google and discovered a report published by the Hindustan Times on February 11, 2016.

A PTI report published by Hindustan Times carried a photo similar to the viral image with the headline “PM Modi’s wife files RTI seeking details of his passport”.
