Srinagar, July 12, KDC: Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) strongly condemned the comments made by BJP leader and opposition leader in West Bengal on Saturday, Suvandu and, urged the people of Bengal not to visit Kashmir and inste
In a statement, the national convenor of the association, Nasir Khouhmi, described the Adhikari’s comments as deep divisive, dangerous and embarrassing, saying that they are funds for direct attacks on India’s views, its secular ethos and constitutional principles that bind the nation together.
“We are not outsiders. We are not being boycotted. Such divisive indefinite language, which aims to separate Kashmir due to its religious demographics, is not only unconstitutional, it is inhuman. It is economically inhuman. It financially tries to strangle an entire population, which is already struggling under the weight of struggle, terrorism and volatility.”
The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir met these comments a few hours after visiting West Bengal for a tourism fair and met with the Chief Minister of Bengal to promote tourism and extend the hand of friendship and partnership. During the visit, the Chief Minister of J&C assured the people of Bengal that “the people of Kashmir are always in the service of our tourists.”
Khoomi emphasized that the comments of the law can make significant efforts to restore the confidence of the tourists, especially in view of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which made a sad claim of the lives of many tourists of Bengal. “Instead of united in sorrow and flexibility, the officer has chosen to deepen the partition. By discouraging Bengalis from meeting Kashmir, he is not only attacking Kashmir, he is insulting the people of West Bengal, assuming that he shares his toxic world vision,” he said in the statement.
“Bengal always stands for pluralism, poem on poison, for bridges on obstacles. It is deeply unfortunate that the leaders of the opposition are now sowing seeds of hatred and communal stress, especially at a time when Chief Minister is working together to promote treatment, tourism, and national unity like Omar Abdullah and Mamata Banerjee.”
The association also warned that such inflammatory rhetoric can instigate communal tension in India and endanger the lives of hundreds of Kashmiri students and shawl vendors working in Bengal. The statement said, “An irresponsible political statement can provoke hatred and enmity, putting real life at risk.”
Khumi accused of indirectly supporting the anti-national agenda. He said, “By calling for the boycott of Kashmir, the Suvendu officer is only spewing Islamophobia, he is helping Pakistan. He is doing exactly what the anti-India force wants; dividing us from within, standing against one Indian against the other, and considering Kashmiris as less citizens,” he said.
The association stressed that tourism is the lifeline of thousands of Kashmiri families, Muslims, pundits, Sikhs and others and this attack and attacking this is nothing short of crushing livelihood, crushing separate people and tearing the social fabric of the nation. “We are Indians as someone else, and when we are excluded we bleed. Kashmir welcomes with all open weapons.”
The association urged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to work immediately by registering an FIR against the Suvandu Officer to promote hatred speech, provocation and enmity between communities. It also highlighted cultural relations and harmony between Jammu and Kashmir and West Bengal formed for decades. “Hundreds of Bengali activists earn their livelihood in Kashmir, and many students in West Bengal are studying in institutions such as Night Srinagar and other universities. The hateful comments of the Suvandu Officer have threatened to destroy this bond of mutual trust, respect and shared history. To compile their words, they do not dismiss one people, who do not dismiss a people.
This urged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command to immediately expel the order from the party for their divisive and inflammatory comments that go against the spirit of national unity and constitutional values.
Kashmir is not a paria. Kashmir is India. And no amount of communal poison can erase our place in this union, ”the statement states. (KDC)
