Israel, Türkiye announce trade barriers, US says ‘no evidence’ of Gaza genocide: 10 points

As Israel’s war with Hamas rages on, the United States says it has no evidence to support reports of Israeli genocide in Gaza. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden urged Israel to cease fire and said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Gaza policy was a “mistake.” Additionally, trade barriers were announced between Türkiye and Israel.

War and several ground offensives in Gaza over the past six months have killed at least 33,360 Palestinians and injured 74,993, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.

Israel-Hamas War: The Latest

  • Türkiye and Israel announced trade barriers against each other. Türkiye announced that it will restrict the export of 54 products to Israel with immediate effect. They include aluminum, steel, construction products, jet fuel and fertilizers. In response, Israel said it was preparing a ban on Turkish products.

  • The United States has denied accusations that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said there was “no evidence” while testifying before the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee on Joe Biden’s latest budget request.

  • In a case brought by Nicaragua to the International Court of Justice, Germany has strongly denied accusations that it supports the genocide in Gaza by supplying weapons to Israel, Al Jazeera reported.
