Four months after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated while speaking at a US university, Israel will pay tribute to his work in fighting anti-Semitism.
The award will be presented at the International Conference on Combating Anti-Semitism in Jerusalem in late January. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office announced the decision late Wednesday.
Several prominent pro-Israel leaders are expected to attend the event, including Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and former Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz.
This year will be the second time IsraelThe U.S. government hosted the conference, which it said was “committed to confronting anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial in today’s world.”
Kirk is a staunch supporter of Israel. After his death, Netanyahu described him as an “ambitious friend” of the country and “a defender of our common Judeo-Christian civilization.”
