Jerusalem:
Israeli forces detained more than 20 people suspected of involvement in the Oct. 7 attack during a raid on a Gaza hospital, the army said on Friday.
“Troops found weapons inside the hospital and arrested dozens of terror suspects, including more than 20 terrorists involved in the October 7 massacre,” the military said in a statement.
According to reports, military operations at the Nasser Hospital in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis are still ongoing.
“This activity is based on IDF intelligence indicating that Hamas terrorist activities are being carried out inside the hospital,” the statement said.
“Hamas has previously used the hospital as a launch pad for mortar shells, including during Hamas attacks last month, as shown by IDF radar images,” the statement said, without giving other details.
The Israeli army said its troops found mortars, grenades and other weapons belonging to Hamas during the attack.
The military launched an operation at the hospital on Thursday, saying it had information that hostages taken by Gaza agents in the Oct. 7 attack that triggered the war were being held at the facility and that some of the captives’ bodies may still be there. Inside the hospital.
But late Thursday, the military said it had “not found any evidence yet.”
