Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson was fined 30 per cent of his match fee after a heated argument with the on-field umpires during the IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. Controversy arose over Samson’s dismissal when Shai Hope caught him in the deep but the fielder was too close to the stumps. The third umpire ruled in favor of DC but Samson was not happy with the decision and got into an argument with the match officials. Replays showed that the fielder was too close to the ropes and the decision divided fans and experts.

“Rajasthan Royals Captain Mr Sanju Samson has been fined 30 per cent of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 56 of the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi 07 May, 2024,” read the official statement.

“Samson has committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He has admitted the offense and has accepted the sanction of the Match Referee. For a Level 1 breach of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final.” And it is binding.” It is further stated.

Talking about the match, Samson’s dismissal proved to be decisive as DC kept their IPL 2024 dreams alive with a win over RR, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel scored half-centuries to take DC past 200 and a disciplined bowling The attack ensured that RR felt well short of the target.

“The way our bowlers performed at the last end was the main positive and it was really good to see. We will try to learn from every game. Even when we lose or win, we will keep our heads down. Will keep going and keep moving forward. As DC captain Rishabh Pant said after the match, “Kuldeep always gave such a performance which was great to watch. It was close to a draw and at the same time we were thinking that if we could restrict them to 200 then it would be fair and that was the thought process.”
