Gaza City:
More than 140 militants have been killed in four days of fighting in and around Gaza’s largest hospital, where Israeli military operations are still ongoing, the military said on Thursday.
Israel launched a raid on the Shifa medical center on Monday, targeting what it described as senior Hamas militants with tank fire and airstrikes.
Fighting has raged for days in and around the sprawling hospital complex, which is crowded with patients and displaced people. A raid on the complex last November sparked international outrage.
“More than 140 terrorists have been eliminated in the hospital area since the start of the operation,” the military said, referring to fighting since Monday.
The military added that it “continues to conduct precision combat operations in the Shifa Hospital area” and “over the past day neutralized more than 50 terrorists in crossfire”.
