Kochi:
PK Sidharth Ramkumar, who stood fourth in UPSC civil services, had no idea his son was taking the exam this time.
“We never knew he took the test, passed the test, and then went for the interview. We didn’t know about it until his name flashed on the TV. And then he briefly called us to inform us,” his mother explain.
She said he will leave IPS and join IAS.
Ramkumar is currently undergoing training at IPS Academy in Hyderabad.
He initially joined Telecom Services Corporation of India and was later selected as IPS. He improved last year but remained in the IPS.
“He kept it a secret and even though he came here and took the exams, he never told us anything,” his mother added.
His father, a teacher, could not hide his joy and said they did not expect such a thing to happen.
Ramkumar’s father said: “When something like this happens unexpectedly, there is more happiness.”
Ramkumar, whose elder brother practices law in the High Court, said he was a man of many talents.
“He played cricket, was outgoing and did many things,” his brother said.
