Apple’s next operating software, iOS 18, is expected to be released at the 2024 annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. It is believed that the next iOS version will bring a large number of on-device and cloud artificial intelligence capabilities. Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reveals that iOS 18 will give iPhone users control over their home screen icons and layout. It is expected to provide flexibility in managing home screen app icons. Apple may release the iOS 18 update to the public in September this year.

Mark Gurman said in the latest edition of Power On, his weekly newsletter: state iOS 18 will make your phone’s home screen “more customizable.” However, Bloomberg reporters did not provide any specific details about the update.

another one Report MacRumors cites internal sources as saying that iOS 18 will give users more control over the overall appearance of the iPhone home screen. The iOS 18 update will reportedly allow users to arrange icons more freely. With this update, Apple will let users create spaces, rows, and columns between app icons. Android already provides this option.

Apple is expected to preview iOS 18 at WWDC 2024. It will likely be launched to the public later in September alongside the so-called iPhone 16 series. iOS 18 is rumored to be compatible with all devices the same as iOS 17. Older devices like the iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max are said to support the latest operating system.

The iOS 18 update is said to come with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) features. It can include the Rich Communication Services (RCS) standard for messaging and borrow several UI components from VisionOS. Apple is said to be in talks with companies like Google and OpenAI about generative artificial intelligence in iOS 18.
