An all-female team has become football’s latest “invincible” team by remaining unbeaten in the men’s league all season.

Queen’s Park Girls’ Under-12s top Bournemouth Youth Group Three football 18 wins, 4 draws and 0 losses in the league.

They dominated 11 men’s teams in the league, scoring 61 goals and conceding just 11 goals.

By the time they had played all their games, they had 58 points, 16 more than the second-place team with two games remaining.

To make their victory even sweeter, they had to overcome initial resistance from county FA bosses who initially told them they had to play in the women’s competition.

Head coach Toby Green believes his squad is good enough to play the boys every week and the players, who train twice a week, have proven him right on the pitch.

Next season the girls will move up to the second division of the Under-13s.

They won the league away to Moordown & Southbourne a few weeks ago, but defeated Lemington Town 3-0 last weekend to claim the “Invincible” title.

Mr Green told Sky News: “The girls did really, really well. They’ve worked really hard all season, not just in games but in training as well.

“They were really disciplined … and they deserved it.”

Mr Green said winning the league title 3-0 away from home against a team that had won six games in a row was one of the highlights of the season.

“We really have to dig deep, especially away from home,” he said.

Of the 14 players on the team, four girls have been playing together since they were five years old.

Mr. Green formed the team when his daughter Olivia told him she wanted to play soccer. He had already coached his oldest daughter as the only girl on a boys team and decided that this time he would start a girls team but wanted them to play in a boys league.

The team hopes to inspire more young girls to get involved in football.
