'Investigative agencies ED, CBI cannot become election issues': Himanta Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said ED and CBI proposed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against opposition leaders The issue of raids cannot be a factor in the campaign.

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Mr. Sarma said the ED and CBI were associated with criminals or possible criminals and the general public was not concerned.

“Gandhi is addressing the issues of the criminal ecosystem involving the Education Ministry and the Central Bureau of Investigation, but this cannot be a campaign,” he said.

The chief minister said the people of the country were concerned about basic issues like access to electricity, housing, water, education and health rather than what happened to a few criminal elements.

Talking about Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, he said that he is a “dishonest politician” who has been playing with the media for a long time and deceiving people in the name of “mohalla clinics” and schools.
