The spin partnership between Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin means a lot for the Indian cricket team in Test cricket. Recently, both the cricketers put in crucial performances to lead the team to a historic victory over England in the five-match Test series. Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Jadeja had a special message for Ashwin and it has a special bond with Rajnikanth. In the past, Ashwin has made numerous references to Rajnikanth movies in his YouTube videos.
“Hi Ashanna, congratulations on your 100th Test match and 500 Test wickets. I am very very happy for you and your contribution to Indian cricket has been amazing. You can continue to take many wickets Wickets and share your mastermind with me so that I too can take some wickets and become a great legend like you,” Jadeja said in a video from a training session of the Chennai Super Kings.

“And we also have the same name. I am Ravi Indran and you are Ravi Chandran. Misha Vachavan Indran, Misha Vaikasavan Chandran (Indran with beard and Chandran without beard),” Jadeja said.
It references the iconic dual role played by Rajnikanth in the 1981 Tamil film “Thillu Mullu”, a remake of the 1979 Bollywood film “Gol Maal”.
Ashwin and Jadeja are currently the most successful bowling pair in Test cricket, taking 542 wickets in 53 games. The experienced duo average 10.23 wickets per match, which is the best among bowling pairs in the longest format of the sport (among those with over 310 wickets) .
