Former Indian cricket team star Manoj Tiwary believes that Mumbai Indians can hand back the Mumbai Indians captaincy to Rohit Sharma before the next game of IPL 2024 ( Rohit Sharma). Mumbai Indians have lost three games in a row under new skipper Hardik Pandya and currently sit at the bottom of the points table. The decision to replace Rohit with Hardik as MI captain had sparked a heated discussion among fans and experts before the match. MI next face Delhi Capitals on April 7 and Tiwari said the captaincy change could happen at half-time.

“It could be a clue that he is under pressure. If someone has not bowled after starting the last three games and that too on a pitch where the ball is swinging. There was swinging in the first innings and even the bowlers of Mumbai Indians Including (Jasprit) Bumrah generated a lot of swings. Hardik also had swings with the ball, but the welcome he received in Mumbai kept him under pressure.”

“I want to see something big – I have a feeling that during this break, MI might hand back the captaincy to Rohit. It’s a huge decision because as far as I know the franchise and the owner , they will accept these decisions without hesitation. When you take the captaincy away from Rohit and give it to Hardik, you start it all. Changing the captain of the five-time champions is a huge decision.”

Legendary India batsman Virender Sehwag, who also participated in the panel, said MI had lost five games under Rohit and then won it in the same season. Therefore, he feels it is too early to predict a move like Hardik no longer being the captain.
