According to sources, an IndiGo aircraft taking off from Amritsar deviated from the taxiway after landing at the Delhi airport on Sunday morning, leading to one of the runways being blocked for about 15 minutes.

The A320 aircraft with flight number 6E 2221 missed the designated taxiway of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on 28/10 and rushed towards the end of the runway.

Sources said that due to the incident, the runway was blocked for about 15 minutes, affecting some flight operations.

An indigo tow truck then towed the aircraft from the end of the runway to the parking bay, the source added.

Comments from IndiGo on the incident are awaited.

IGIA is the country’s largest airport, handling approximately 1,400 flights per day. It has four operating runways.
