Indian contestant Sini Shetty has withdrawn from the Miss World 2024 contest. In the finals of the 71st beauty pageant held in India after a gap of 28 years, Ms. Shetty was defeated by Miss Lebanon and entered the top 4.
Ms. Shetty, 22, a trained Bharatnatyam dancer born and raised in Mumbai, was crowned Miss India World in 2022.
The 12-judge panel comprised of Miss World 2017 winner Manushi Chhillar, actors Kriti Sanon, Pooja Hegde, Miss World Organization chairman and CEO Julia Morley, film producer Sajid Nadiadwala, former cricketer Harbhajan Singh and news personality Rajat Sharma The group serves as chairman of the Miss World 2024 beauty pageant.
Delegates from 112 countries attended the event held at Jio World Convention Center in BKC, Mumbai. The event was hosted by Karan Johar and Miss World 2013 beauty pageant winner Megan Young.
Manushi Chhillar is the latest Indian to win a beauty pageant. Previously, the competition was won by Reeta Faria Powell, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Diana Hayden, Yukta Mukesh and Priyanka Chopra Jonas .
The last time India hosted the event in 1996, Greece’s Irene Skliva won the coveted title.
