New Delhi, October 28 (IANS) The Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue 2025 (IPRD2025), starting from October 28 at the Manekshaw Center in New Delhi, focuses on the theme ‘Promoting Inclusive Maritime Security and Development: Regional Capacity-Building and Capacity-Enhancing’.
This year’s IPRD 2025 is the 7th successive edition of the Indian Navy’s top-level international strategic outreach that brings together leaders, policy makers, practitioners, diplomats, academicians and maritime experts from the Indo-Pacific and beyond to address critical issues across the vast expanse of the predominantly maritime Indo-Pacific.
The event began with the ‘Inaugural Address’ by Admiral Karambir Singh, former Chief of the Naval Staff, in which he noted the strategic turbulence in the maritime domain due to the impact of great power competition, the rise of non-state actors and the intensification of non-traditional security challenges.
He advocated a collaborative maritime architecture to address these contemporary challenges.
This was followed by an engaging session with five distinguished speakers from Bangladesh, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore and South Africa, who presented their perspectives on ‘Cooperative capacity-building and capacity-enhancing to address the security impacts of climate change’.
The highlight of the first day was the speech by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Dinesh K.
Emphasizing that India’s Ocean Maritime Policy envisages prosperity and security for all in the region, the Navy Chief advocated cooperation and collaboration as the key means of achieving this end state.
Later, he also released a book titled ‘Future Maritime Warfare’ written by Captain KS Vikramaditya of the Indian Navy and published by the National Maritime Foundation (NMF).
A specially organized session, ‘Chaupal Ki Charcha’ saw an engaging interaction between Vice Admiral Pradeep Chauhan, Director General of NMF, German Ambassador Dr Philipp Ackermann, Indra Mani Pandey, Secretary General of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), Vice Admiral Anne Calleray of the French Navy and Captain Geordie. Klein, Defense Attaché of the Netherlands in New Delhi.
Bringing together a galaxy of top-level leaders and renowned experts – including 40 distinguished speakers from 19 countries – IPRD 2025 is being organized by the Indian Navy in collaboration with the National Maritime Foundation as its knowledge partner.
