India will continue to cooperate in the development of defense capabilities of Maldives: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that India will continuously cooperate in developing the defense capabilities of the Maldives and the Indian Ocean has a common goal of both peace, stability and prosperity.

In a press statement with Maldives President Mohammad Muizu, PM Modi spoke of expanding economic cooperation and strong development partnership between the two countries.
“In the field of defense and security, mutual cooperation is a symbol of mutual trust. The construction of the Ministry of Defense, which is being inaugurated today, is a reliable, solid building. It is a symbol of our strong partnership. Our partnership will also be in meteorological. Our friendship is always bright and institutions. Target,” PM Modi said.
He said, “Simultaneous in the Colombo Security Conclave, we will strengthen regional maritime security. Climate change is a challenge for both of us. We have decided to promote renewable energy. In the region, India will share his experience with Maldives,” he said.
PM Modi said that in October last year, during the visit of President Muizu to India, the two countries shared a vision on comprehensive economic and maritime partnership.
“Now, this is becoming a reality. This is a result of this, that our relations are touching new heights. The opening of many projects has become possible. 4000 social housing units, built with India’s cooperation, will become a new beginning for many families in Maldives. It will work for their new homes. Soon, with the introduction of the boat system, the boat will become smooth.
The Prime Minister said that India is the closest neighbor of Maldives and the country holds an important place in India’s first ‘policy and’ Mahasagar ‘vision.
“India is proud to be the most trusted friend of Maldives. It is a crisis or epidemic, India always stands as respondents. It is providing essential commodities or to handle the economy after Kovid, India has always worked together,” he said.
PM Modi said that this year, India and Maldives are also celebrating 60 years of their diplomatic relations.
“First of all, on behalf of the people of India, I would like to wish the President and the people of Maldives on the historic occasion of the 60th year of independence. For inviting me as a guest of honor on this historic occasion, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the President,” he said.
“But the roots of our relationships are older than history and deep like the sea. The memorial tickets released today display the traditional boats of the two countries. It shows that we are not only neighbors, but also co-priests,” he said.
The PM reached Maldives on Friday in the second phase of his two-nation tour. He reached Maldives after a successful visit to the United Kingdom. (AI)
