Cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar feels that India is missing the services of star batsman Virat Kohli amid the ongoing fourth Test against England in Ranchi. Kohli had initially withdrawn from the team for the first two Tests due to personal reasons, before also making himself unavailable for the remaining matches of the series. As England took control of the proceedings against India, Manjrekar felt the hosts were missing Kohli’s unmatched energy in the outfield.
Manjrekar said in the commentary that Kohli has the ability to get the crowd behind him and the Indian team and takes the match to the opposition due to his aggressive attitude.
“Virat Kohli is one of those guys. If the fielders are calm, he will rally the crowd to support the players, and bring some energy. When he is out, he shows intensity. India will miss Virat Kohli. It has been. It is so.” There is no one like him. He has that energy,” Manerjekar said on-air.
Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik, who was on commentary duty, echoed Manjrekar’s sentiments.
“(Virat Kohli) has an amazing ability to get the crowd behind him,” Karthik said.
Earlier this month, Kohli had announced that he and his wife Anushka Sharma have been blessed with their second child. Kohli revealed that Anushka gave birth to a baby boy on February 15, who was named Akaay.
“With great joy and hearts full of love, we are all happy to share that on February 15, we welcomed our baby boy Akay and Vamika’s little brother into this world. We are very happy at this beautiful time of our lives. Seeking your blessings and good wishes. We request you to please respect our privacy at this time. Love and gratitude. Virat and Anushka,” Kohli shared on his social media handle.
Kohli is likely to return to action during the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Kohli’s RCB will face defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the opening match of the tournament on March 22.
Since general elections will be held this year, the schedule of the first 21 matches has been announced so far.
“As in the past, the BCCI will work closely with the government and security agencies while following all necessary protocols and advisories related to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in India. Once the dates for the 18th Lok Sabha elections are announced, the Board will review and “Next, the BCCI will work closely with the local authorities to finalize the schedule for the remaining season, keeping in mind the voting dates,” the BCCI said in a release. .
