Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that India is increasingly moving towards becoming the third largest economy in the world, saying that the country has progressed in every field in the last 11 years.

Speaking in the 16th edition of the Rozagar fair, the Prime Minister said that India’s manufacturing sector is one of its “greatest strength” and the government has taken steps to promote employment in the private sector.

“The Government of India is also focused on creating new employment opportunities in the private sector. Recently, the government has approved a new scheme – Employment Linked Incentive Scheme. Under this scheme, the government will provide the youth Rs 15,000 to get their first job in the private sector, which means that the government helped in its first job. He said.

He also highlighted the steps taken to support manufacturing, saying, “Today, one of India’s greatest strength is our manufacturing sector. A large number of new jobs are being made in manufacturing … To promote manufacturing sector, mission construction has been announced in this year’s budget. In recent years, we have strengthened the Make in India campaign.”

The Prime Minister said that especially two areas, electronics and mobile phones construction, and defense construction, have seen a large -scale growth.

“From the PLI scheme, 11 lakh jobs were constructed. In recent years, unprecedented expansion has been observed in mobile phones and electronic sectors. Today, electronics worth Rs 11 lakh crore are being constructed. The area has seen an increase of more than 5 times in the last 11 years.

He also talked about rapid growth in defense production, especially after Operation Sindoor: “There is another area and after Operation Sindoor, it has been widely discussed. It is a defense construction. India is making new records in defense construction. Our defense production is beyond Rs 1.25 lakh crore. In every field,” he said.

Quoting a report by the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Prime Minister said that government welfare schemes have also helped in promoting employment.

“Recently, a report by the International Labor Organization states that in the last decade, more than 90 million citizens in India have been brought in coverage of welfare schemes.
