India, Brazil strongly opposed terrorism and those who support it: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India and Brazil share a common approach in the fight against terrorism – “zero tolerance and zero double standards”, and growing cooperation between the two countries is “symbol of deep mutual trust”.

During a joint press statement with Brazilian President Luiz Inkio Lula Da Silva after his delegation-tier talks on Tuesday (local time), PM Modi said, “We share a general approach to the fight against terrorism-zero tolerance and zero double standards.

He said, “Our growing cooperation in the field of defense reflects deep mutual confidence between our two countries. We will continue our efforts to connect our defense industries and strengthen this partnership. Our cooperation in the areas of artificial intelligence and supercomprants is expanding.

During the meeting, PM Modi also thanked President Lula for condemning the Pahalgam attack on 22 April and expressing solidarity with the people of India.

Addressing a special press briefing on PM Modi’s state visit, Brazil, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Secretary (East) P Kumaran said that PM Modi said that India is firm in his resolve to fight terrorism in all its forms and expressions.

“On security and terrorism, the Prime Minister thanked President Lula for firm condemnation for the people of India after the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April and expressing support and solidarity to the people of India, killing 26 innocent citizens. The Prime Minister also confirmed that India stands firm in his resolve to fight terrorism in all its forms.

President Lula expressed his full support in the fight against the threat of terrorism, ”Kumaran said.

Kumaran said that PM Modi and president Lula discussed defense and security, agriculture, food and nutritional security, energy change and climate change, digital changes, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies and industrial participation.

“During bilateral talks, the two leaders discussed the entire spectrum of partnership. Try to discuss me some major areas and list. It includes defense and security, agriculture, food and nutritional security, energy change and climate change, digital changes, artificial changes, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, industrial partnerships, defense industries, significant minerals, oils and gas and more, more, more.

The MEA Secretary announced that India and Brazil signed several agreements, including an agreement on cooperation in fighting international terrorism and international organized crime.

PM Modi was on a state visit to Brazil on the invitation of Brazilian President Lula. During his visit, PM Modi held a meeting with President Lula and attended the BRICS summit at Rio de Janeiro.
