Prithvi Shaw was in superb form as he scored 43 runs in Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. The DC opener was not selected to play in the first two matches of this year’s tournament, but he played an important role in the team’s first win. It’s a big moment for a youngster who received a lot of criticism for his performance last year. After the match, Prithvi spoke about what the team expects from him and how he planned his approach.

“I don’t know about this year, but in every IPL, they expect me to hit every ball. I don’t think it’s pressure, I just try to go out there, see it as a challenge and do my best. It’s been so long It feels good to play white ball cricket after time. After recovering from injury, hungry to score runs, to hit the ball. IPL is such a game. If you hit the ball, you know today is your day… Today I tried to Play smart because we didn’t get off to the ideal start so I tried to fix that,” Shaw said in a video released by the IPL.

The match between DC and CSK also saw MS Dhoni make his debut in IPL 2024 and even though his team failed to register a win, fans were enthralled to see ‘Tara’ score 37 runs from 16 runs. Prithvi spoke of his admiration for the former Indian cricket team captain and explained how Dhoni shares his vast experience and insightful suggestions for improvement with the youngsters.

“There’s nothing good to say about him. Whenever he comes on set, everyone can hear what he’s accomplished and the happiness he’s brought to the people sitting outside. Every time I get a chance to see him or talk to him He would always say: “He always shared his experiences and told me what he had done throughout the process and what I needed to do to improve. I was lucky enough to play in front of him,” Shaw added.
