Kolkata, Oct 23 (IANS) The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta on Thursday said it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Kolkata-based Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) with the aim of promoting collaboration in the field of media management studies.
IIM-Calcutta had claimed that this MoU marks the first collaboration between a premier business school and a leading institution of media excellence in India, creating a pioneering framework for academic, research and professional collaboration.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Alok Kumar Rai, Director of IIM-Calcutta and Sameeran Dutta, Vice Chancellor of SRFTI.
“This collaboration seeks to bring together management principles and creative disciplines to nurture new perspectives in learning, leadership and innovation. By combining IIM-Calcutta’s strength in management education, consulting and capacity building with SRFTI’s excellence in film, media and storytelling, the partnership aims to develop impactful programs that combine business strategy with creative practice,” said a statement released by IIM-Calcutta on Thursday. Said in the press statement.
Under this framework, both the institutions will undertake capacity-building and specialized training programs as well as joint research, teaching and consultancy initiatives that will promote inter-disciplinary learning.
“The partnership will also facilitate mutual exchanges and collaborative projects, fostering synergy between analytical rigor and artistic expression,” the IIM-Calcutta statement said.
Accordingly, the arrangement also aspires to create a unique academic and professional ecosystem that will leverage creativity and media insights through the lens of management, thereby contributing to the growth of India’s creative economy and expanding opportunities for students, professionals and researchers.
Alok Kumar Rai said that the MoU also seeks to enhance cooperation, encourage joint research and provide industry relevant training and opportunities to students.
“This will promote academic interaction between the two institutions and I am confident that the objective of this MoU will be achieved,” he said.
