‘If you want to see the future, come to India’: US envoy Eric Garcetti

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti praised India’s development progress and its role in shaping the future of the world and said that if one wants to “see the future” one should come to India.

The US envoy said he was lucky to call India home and described the experience as a “huge honour”. “I often say, if you want to see the future, come to India; if you want to feel the future, come to India; if you want to work for the future, come to India. I am honored to be able to do this.” As a representative of the United States Every day of the regiment leader’s life,” he said.

Garcetti also talked about the time he spent in India as a child and said his “deep emotional connection” to the country has never left his soul.

He reiterated US President Joe Biden’s message on the relationship between the two countries, saying the president told him India “is the most important country in the world” and that Washington’s relationship with New Delhi is “the most important” in shaping the world order of this century.

Ambassador Garcetti said that the relationship between the United States and India, the world’s two largest democracies, is “not an additive relationship, but a multiplicative relationship.”

The US Ambassador’s remarks came as US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan also emphasized that the partnership between India and the US has reached new heights through technological cooperation.

“The partnership between the United States and India, a BRIC country, has reached new heights, with engagement in technology and security and many other areas,” Sullivan told the White House.
