US President Donald Trump reiterated his stand to push the manufacturers to produce equipment in the United States.
He signed several prominent executive orders and commented on Friday (US local time), which included a single one on the introduction of nuclear power.
Talking to the media about the issue of iPhone manufactured in the US in the US, Trump said, “It will be more, it will be Samsung and any person who makes that product, otherwise it would not be appropriate. So any person who makes that product”.
He said that if the plants are based in the US, there will be no tariff.
“When they build their own plant here, there is no tariff. So they are building plants here, but I had an understanding with them (Tim Cook) that he was not doing so. He said that he is going to India to build plants. I said,” It is fine to go to India, but you are not going to sell here without tariff.
Trump said that most of the work is computerized, believing that prices would not shoot for American consumers. He said, “Now a lot is computerized. These plants are amazing if you see them, but they can do it. Apple is coming with $ 500 billion. So chip companies are coming. The largest 500 billion, 200 billion, $ 250 billion, but we are talking about the iPhone.”
Earlier on Friday, Trump said that Apple would have to pay 25 percent import tariff if mobile handsets sold in the US are not produced within the country’s borders.
In a social media post on his truth social, US President Donald Trump wrote, “I have informed Apple’s Tim Cook long ago that I hope his iPhone will be sold in the United States and built in the United States, not in India, not in India, or elsewhere,”
“If this is not the case, the tariff of at least 25% should be paid by Apple, which thanks America for your attention on the matter,” he added to the post.
Talking about his administration’s decision to nominate Harvard University as international students, Trump said, “Harvard has been paid billions of dollars. How ridiculous it is? … and he has a USD 52 billion USD … Harvard will have to change his ways.”
Earlier on Thursday, the White House said, “Enrollment of foreign students is a privilege, not a right.” This accused Harvard’s leadership of “its once-once-Mahan institute into an anti-American, anti-American, terrorist agitator”.
Harvard and Trump administration have been engaged in a conflict for months as the administration demands that the university changes the programming of the institution, hiring on-campus antisementism to remove and remove the administration to remove “racist ‘diversity, equity and inclusion’ practices.” The administration has targeted foreign students and employees, believing that it was part of the protest against the controversial campus on the Israeli-Hamas war.
While signing the executive orders, the White House said in a statement that the US President took a series of executive functions to achieve nuclear power in the US as part of the administration’s effort to secure the energy future in the US and fulfill American energy dominance.
The White House also mentioned in another statement that US President Trump also signed an executive order to implement Gold Standards Science for reconstruction of the public trust in the National Science Enterprise. (AI)
