West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee on Thursday claimed that if BJP returns to power at the Centre, the government will increase the price of LPG cylinder by Rs 2,000.
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering at a government program here in Jhargram district.
Ms Banerjee said, “If the BJP wins the elections, they may increase the price of LPG cylinder to Rs 1,500 or Rs 2,000. Then, we will have to go back to the old practice of collecting wood for lighting fires.” ,
He gave an ultimatum to the BJP-led central government to complete the construction of houses under the housing scheme by the end of April and claimed that otherwise his government would start construction from May.
On Tuesday, Ms Banerjee had set a deadline of April 1 for the Central government to complete the work of building houses for the beneficiaries, otherwise her government will build around 11 lakh houses for them.
Referring to her government paying MNREGA workers their due wages, which were allegedly not paid by the BJP-led Central government, Ms Banerjee said, “I asked a young man if he would be given 100 days’ wages.” He said that he came to know that it was Rs 30,000. This was the amount which the central government had not paid to people like him for the last two years. We paid 59 lakh people their dues. Is.”
However, the Trinamool Congress supremo remained silent on the arrest of party leader Shajahan Sheikh, accused of sexual assault on women and land grabbing in Sandeshkhali area of North 24 Parganas district. Sheikh was arrested early Thursday.
