New Delhi, October 6 (IANS) With the announcement of election dates in Bihar, warfare is also clearly drawn, and parties are dying to woo voters with lofty promises. However, the biggest issues that have overshadowed the minds of voters are unemployment and corruption and to some extent – the state’s poor education model.
According to the IANS-Matris survey, corruption and unemployment are the biggest issues in Bihar elections, followed by inflation and law and order.
The opinion poll shows that Prime Minister Narendra Modi also remains a decisive factor in shaping public opinion and deciding the choice of voters in adjacent elections, with 9 percent of the respondents saying that it would be an important factor when people vote.
According to the IANS-Matriase survey, 24 percent of people believe that unemployment is the biggest issue in Bihar elections, 10 percent believe that corruption is the most important factor, while only 3 percent think that liquor ban is an issue in assembly elections.
About 5 percent of the respondents said that law and order would decide the result of voting, while 7 percent see rising prices/inflation as a major polling issue.
Two percent of the respondents considered poor healthcare, 8 percent considered the education system, and 4 percent considered agriculture and farming as major issues for voting. Only 1 percent considered floods, 4 percent considered migration, 2 percent considered state development, and 3 percent considered prohibition of alcohol as a major election issue.
The IANS-Matrize survey also collected public opinion on the special intensive amendment (SIR) held in Bihar. About 54 percent of the respondents praised the Election Commission initiative, while 17 percent considered it necessary. Thirteen percent said that this was done to give electoral benefits to the ruling coalition, while 16 percent did not give any opinion.
Earlier, the Election Commission announced the dates for the Bihar assembly elections. Voting for 243 seats in Bihar will be held in two phases – in the first phase, 121 seats will go to elections on November 6, while in the second phase, 122 seats will be held on November 11. The election results will be declared on 14 November.
According to the IANS-Matrize survey, the NDA alliance is set to form a government in Bihar. The NDA is estimated to win 150–160 seats out of 243, while the Mahagatdanan Alliance is estimated to win 70 to 85 seats.
