Qualifying the UPSC Civil Services exam remains a coveted goal for many in India, and IAS officer Sonal Goyal has shared her UPSC marksheet to inspire people to “believe in your abilities”. Ms Goyal, who qualified the UPSC Civil Services examination in 2008, recalled her initial setback in 2007 when she missed qualifying for the interview stage due to low marks in the General Studies paper.
“However, this setback boosts my determination to leave no stone unturned in achieving my goal,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday and stressed the importance of dedication and sustained effort.
“I then dedicated myself completely to mastering the General Studies paper and improving other aspects of Mains with emphasis on making notes, frequent revision and #AnswerWriting. I put my heart and soul into every aspect of the course, pursuing LLB from Delhi University and working a part-time job as a CS – Company Secretary.
“In my second attempt, I not only passed the exam but also scored the highest marks in General Studies compared to my optional subjects – Commerce and Public Administration,” he said.
Reflecting on her journey, Ms Goyal said it imparted a valuable lesson to the candidates, saying, “It is a reminder that with dedication and sustained effort, no obstacle is insurmountable.”
Encouraging the candidates to learn from failures, he urged them to view each failure as an opportunity for learning, improvement and ultimate victory.
“Be confident in your abilities, pursue your goals with passion and never forget your dreams. It is through perseverance that greatness is achieved,” the IAS officer wrote.
Along with the long note and a photograph of her marksheet, Ms Goyal said, “It brought back memories when I saw my #UPSC Civil Services 2007 #Mains marksheet, which reminded me of the trials and triumphs that led to the final selection.” Happened.”
