I am ready for an open debate: K’Taka Dy CM for Union Minister Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru, 30 September (IANS) on Tuesday, while replying to the attack against him by Union Heavy Industries Minister and Steel HD Kumaraswamy, Karnataka Deputy Chairman and State Congress President DK Shivkumar, on Tuesday, he said that he was ready to attach an open debate with the Union Minister.

Shivkumar said, “Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy is only involved in hit-and-run politics against me. It should end. Let the media provide a suitable platform. I am ready to make an open debate with Kumaraswamy,” Shivkumar said.

Deputy Chief Minister was speaking in response to questions from media in Bengaluru.

Union Minister Kumaraswamy on Sunday alleged that Deputy Chief Minister Shivkumar will soon go to jail for alleged rapes he has done in relation to land deals.

Asked about Kumaraswamy’s remarks that “the day Shivkumar is going to jail, he is close,” Shivkumar said, “From the very beginning, Kumaraswamy has determined to put me in jail. He is plotting against me, and now he has openly said that the day I go to jail, I will give a fitting.”

“Kumaraswamy has expressed his wish. This may be true for him. The conspiracy of his family against my family is not new. Even before that, he also tried against my sister and brother. It should be finished. He has once again said that the day I go to jail, I will reply to him.

“I challenged him to argue in the assembly, but he fled to Parliament. If he suggests a debate with another leader of his party, I say that there is no leader equal to me in his party. Therefore, let the media arrange a debate between us,” Shivkumar said.

“I have invited him for a debate several times before; I am calling it again. It should not be just a hit-end-run. Let me have an open debate on the allegations made against me. I will keep the records made by him about my family, and let them keep the documents that claim to be against me.”

He said, “The power to send someone to jail is only with a judge. Yet in my case, Kumaraswamy himself is speaking like a judge. He is acting like a judge, while he is also running in court,” he commented.

Asked about Kumaraswamy’s suggestion that the state government should build faith with the Center to secure more compensation including flood relief, Shivkumar said, “Kumaraswamy is a Union Minister. We are ready to send a delegation of the state under his leadership to meet the central government and the Prime Minister.”

“He has said that he will set up industries in Mandya, Ramnagara and other places in the state to generate employment. They have demanded our cooperation. Wherever he is ready to set up the industry, our government is ready to expand full cooperation. Even though his son said, he wants to set up industries on his land, we will provide approval.”

On the allegation that Bidadi Township project was being done for the interests of real estate, Shivkumar said, “I don’t need a lecture on real estate. I am from Bengaluru, and my property is in Bangalore district. I have not come from outside and bought land here.”

Asked about the allegation that the state government is not adequately responding to flood affected areas, Shivkumar replied, “All the ministers concerned have visited, and the Chief Minister himself has gone and inspected.”

Whether it was decided to impose crowd fees in Bengaluru, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “All this is wrong. Some industrialists have suggested measures for the welfare of Bangalore residents. Those who care about Bengaluru sometimes suggests.

When asked about the poor road works near his official residence, which had to be repaired again, Shivkumar said, “All the work in the constituencies of BJP MLAs is of poor quality.”
