Hyderabad police chief transfers 85 policemen from Punjagutta station

Hyderabad Commissioner of Police (CP) Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy has transferred 85 staff members of Punjagutta police station ranging from home guards to inspectors for the first time in the history of Telangana.

He ordered them to be integrated into the Armed Reserve (AR) and ordered them to report to the AR headquarters. This is the first time that the entire staff of the police department has been transferred in Telangana.

Along with the transfer of Punjagutta police station, as many as 82 new staff members from other police stations have also been mobilized with immediate effect.

The Punjagutta police station is mired in allegations of providing information to former government dignitaries on key issues, including that of former Bodhan BRS MLA Shakeel Amir.

Since most of the key issues at the police station were leaked, CP was furious and ordered all personnel to be transferred. The decision to redeploy up to 85 staff at one police station has shocked police forces across the state.

The Punjagutta police station has been in the headlines for the hit-and-run case opposite Praja Bhavan in Somaguda last month, in which the prime suspect Raheel Shakeel was former Bodhan M. Son of Ra Amir Shakir.

After the accident, Raheel Shakir has been absconding and is suspected of flying to Dubai. Surprisingly, former Punjagutta inspector Durga Rao is also absconding and a special team is on duty to track him down.

Meanwhile, Punjagutta police arrested Bodhan police station inspector Prem Kumar and a relative of Shakir. It is reported that the two have helped Raheel escape to Dubai. Besides arresting six people, Hyderabad police also issued an FIR against the son of the former MP.
