Huawei announced on Monday (April 15) the launch of a new flagship smartphone series, Huawei Pura, replacing its iconic P series. The Chinese smartphone brand shared a teaser on Weibo confirming that the Huawei Pura 70 will be launched as the first phone in a new series. Like the previous P-series flagships, the new Pura range is expected to include multiple models. Huawei P series smartphones were first launched in 2012. Last year’s Huawei P60, Huawei P60 Pro and Huawei P60 Art were the last entrants to the P series product line.

Huawei CEO Richard Yu on Weibo Announce Huawei P series will be “upgraded” to “Pura” starting from Pura 70. The company also teased the launch of the Huawei Pura 70 with a video, confirming that it will come with a new design and imaging features. The teaser shows off the upcoming lineup’s rectangular play button-shaped camera island. Emphasis on passion, purity, style, creativity and classics as the pillars of the new collection.

The Huawei Pura 70 series may include Huawei Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro+ and Pura 70 Ultra. However, there is no word on an official release date for the Pura series.

The Huawei Ascend P1 debuted in 2012 and was the first smartphone model in the P series. Last year’s Huawei P60 series, which included the regular Huawei P60, Huawei P60 Pro and Huawei P60 Art, was the last member of the P generation.

All three Huawei P60 series phones feature 6.7-inch LTPO OLED displays with up to 120Hz refresh rates and are powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The Huawei P60 series has a triple rear camera setup with a 13-megapixel selfie camera. They offer a new two-way satellite messaging feature that allows users to send and receive messages using a direct satellite network. Huawei P60 and Huawei P60 Pro come with 4,815mAh batteries. The Huawei P60 Art has a slightly larger 5,100mAh battery.
